'With two hundred and seventy engravings from entirely new designs' - these are small illustrations integrated within text print on most pages. Original tan morocco boards with inlaid design and logos to front and back. five raised bands to spine with logos between. Red title block with gilt lettering to spine. Red marbling on pastedowns and end papers - very clean and bright. Bookplate on front pastedown - school prize awarded in 1866. Includes The Author's Apology for his Book, and The Author's Way (preface).

A few minor marks on inside pages, but mostly clean. Tightly bound, very pleasing, and very rare copy. |
