The Mayflower Marriage by Arminal Dare
Weymouth has a special relationship with the subject of this book, as many pilgrims sailed from Weymouth to the New World in the 1600s. Family ties across the 'pond' still exist today, and of course, there is a Weymouth in Massachusetts as well as Dorset. For this reason, we are very excited to be able to promote a new Local Author who has written on a subject close to so many local families' hearts.
Arminal Dare can trace her genealogy back to John Alden and Priscilla Mullins who made the voyage from England to America on the Mayflower in 1620, and is celebrating the publication of her first novel, The Mayflower Marriage, which tells their story. The discovery of this connection led to a fascination with the famous sea crossing and the history of the Pilgrim settlers. Extensively researched, her novel brings to life the voyage, John and Priscilla’s love story and the complicated truth of Pilgrim relations with the Native Americans.
Arminal Dare grew up near Philadelphia, USA and now lives in Yetminster, Dorset.
